When Mary Wore Wedges

There are little things many take for granted That tilt of the head, or special kiss A lingering touch, an extra helping of mashed potatoes A note sent via text

The extra note of joy in the laughter The blush that lasts just a bit longer The caress that leaves her perfume on you The extra squeeze that makes you feel like ten men

Women have a the gift of life Not just the creating of life Nor just the nurturing of life But the reinvigoration of life

It’s these little things she does These little signals she slips All absentmindedly mostly But covertly intentional honestly

It’s the shirt you like that she wears The one you accidentally wished she didn’t wear Until you’re wearing it at the office With her scent on it and your stress goes away

Yes, she does these little things The ones you almost miss and take for granted These little signs she sings softly Giving you life all so lovingly

When Mary Wore Wedges

Watching her movements, comfy in her Vans, George took in the view. His lady was just radiating wonderfully. Happy. Content.

Her movements were gracious. Even flirtatious.

But that was OK. He was her one and only. They were together for the long haul. Together for life. Together forever.

That was the plan. The execution of which was going along fabulously.

There wasn’t more to want, more to wish for, more to ask.

Yet, Mary constantly found ways to impress, ways to tease, ways to ease the day’s stress.

Her cuteness doing headstands randomly as if it was the most normal thing to do. The silliness that most wouldn’t understand, but the look in her eyes, as she sought to keep him smiling.

Mary had a gift, a special ability to melt away stress. Just playfully being her authentic self.

George worked tirelessly to support and love this wonderful lady. There was no other lady like Mary.

Unboxing Wedges on a Wednesday

Packages came into their home on a regular basis. They were slowly filling their space with the necessities one needs. But there were other gifts that was just for their fun. Lingerie, clothing, accessories. The toys of the moment that kept things fresh.

However, once in a while, a gift would show up that would leave George curious. Yet, he never asked. Whoever gave her these cute shoes had great taste.

As far as George was concerned, Mary got them for herself. As far as Mary was concerned, George just liked getting her the cutest shoes for her outfits.

These wedges were a step away from the usual. It wasn’t another pair of Vans or Converse. It wasn’t another casual flat or dressy ballet flat. This was a sky high wedge. One that was properly suited for a summer romance.

George tried to stifle his joy and anticipation, as they’d definitely would be worn on a fabulous sunny summer day. Mary, on her end, blushed. She knew exactly what to wear to make these glow. She had the right pair of nylon and skirt to give these wedges their best day.

With a soft gentle caress, and a low moan, Mary teased her man. George resisted in vain. He was powerless to resist her. She knew exactly what he needed and what he wanted.

Her eyes were on fire.

Picking up the clue, George picked up his phone and reserved a table at their favorite place. They would be enjoying the sunset overlooking the water with wonderful Salsa music playing around them. They’d be dancing tonight.

The Symbolism

As they made their way back to their place, hand in hand, giggling foolishly, George thought quietly.

His lady went to great lengths to keep him happy. The stresses of life threatened routinely to put a wedge between them. The deadlines at work, the deadlines at school, the friends who needed attention, the work for their side business.

If they weren’t careful, the wedge would press and eventually draw them apart. Yet, his lady always managed to carry some sweetness with her that made him feel special.

Women just had that amazing power to make things feel all better. Romance had a way of staying fresh because she always knew just when he needed a caress.

Now, walking like a supermodel, hips swaying, gloriously beaming, in these really tall wedges, George understood the power of a loving bond.

His job was to protect her feelings of love towards him. He was to constantly do his part to keep their relationship fresh. Mary may not care about where they go, so long as they’re together. Mary may not care about the fancy dresses and crazy expensive cars, but she cared that he wanted to share a home with her.

Sure, the fancy stuff was great. They both wanted it. But, not at the expense of their happiness.

Whenever life threw a wedge their way, he would strive to turn it into a stepping stone for their romance to bloom. Much like Mary had taken these high wedges and walked on them like they were comfy sneakers.

It was Mary’s way of making lemonade out of the challenge of life. This was his way of adding just the right amount of sugar to the drink so they were both happy.

The gift that keeps on giving

After their date, knowing full well it had been a very long day, George stepped back to grab his camera. If he could just snap a quick photo to remember this day with. To his surprise, his lady was waiting for him, resting all pretty.

He scarce could grab one photo. It was time to give her a massage and show his appreciation of her efforts.

There would be many evenings when George would reflect on the day Mary wore wedges. The memories would follow him for years.

His lady taught him the real meaning of living joyously and playfully. Even in a teasing fashion.

Each relationship had it’s quirk, each had it’s strengths, in this one, Mary was the powerhouse that made this romance exciting. George thanked the heavens for letting him be with the woman of his dreams.
